Shift Calculator

Enter a shift start time, how many paid hours you work, and any unpaid break to find your shift end time — including total time on site and paid hours in decimal form.

Notes

  • A paid break should be left out of the break field — it is already inside your paid hours.
  • Split shifts are best entered as two separate shifts, since the gap between them is not a break.

Common questions

Does an eight-hour shift mean eight hours on site?
Usually not. If the break is unpaid, an eight-hour paid shift with a 30-minute lunch keeps you on site for eight and a half hours.
How do I work backwards from an end time?
Use the Hours Worked Calculator: it takes a clock-in and clock-out time and tells you the paid hours in between.
